Comportamiento del tizón temprano del tomate (Alternaria solani) en las condiciones del municipio de Holguín, Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
In order to obtain information for the improvement of integrated management system, an analysis of tomato early blight (Alternaria solani Sor.) behavior was carried out between 2005 and 2012 at the territory of Holguin municipality, where pathogen remains throughout the year. The research comprised the study of first symptoms appearance and its frequency in relation to the cultivation age as well as the apparent infection rate during the months of cultivation. It was found that the disease appeared within the first 30 days after transplantation, being more frequently between 14 and 21 days. Outbreaks in November sowings appeared later and the increases of pathogen populations were slower compared with those from both early and late sowings. These results are the reason why forecast system proposed in 2010 to be validated in the whole country was not suitable for this region. Results may be useful for timely fungicide treatments notices and sowing time strategies outline on integrated management systems.
