Registro de plagas de albahaca blanca (Ocimum basilicum) bajo condiciones de cultivo protegido
Main Article Content
Abstract
Basil (Ocimum bacilicum L.) belongs to Labiatae family, is an annual herb native from India and other tropical regions of Asia, with more than 5000 years of cultivation. In order to identify the pests and diseases that affect the basil growing in protected conditions, an experiment was developed in white basil planting of Genovesa variety, in the Horticultural Research Institute Liliana Dimitrova (IIHLD), in the municipality of Quivicán, from Mayabeque province, during the months of March to June 2009. Samples of roots, leaves, stems and flowers were taken weekly from transplantation, and were reviewed by observations with stereomicroscope and light microscope. Diseases observed in white basil under protected conditions corresponded to the fungal pathogens Peronospora sp. Rhizoctonia sp. and Fusarium oxysporum Sch., and arthropod Pachnaeus litus Germar, Atta insularis Guer. and Polyphagotarsonemus latus Banks. Blue green weevil (Pachnaeus litus Germar) was reported for the first time as phytophagous insect on O. basilicum in the country.
