Abstract
Phytonematodes are true enemies of ornamental plants; therefore, it is necessary to know their principal associated species. In order to identify the nematofauna in ornamental plants, including cut flowers in Havana and Havana City provinces, there were collected 1220 samples representing 120 plant species. In the paper it was showed also other records in Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Camagüey and Las Tunas which complete a total amount of 159 plant species studied in the country, belonging to 47 families. There were 310 new records of plant-nematodes associations of a whole bulk of 497. Aphelenchoides besseyi was observed for the first time on leaves of Callistephus hortensis, Chrysanthemum coronarium and Saint-Paulia ionantha; A. subtenuis on leaves of Pandanus sp. and Pratylenchus sp. on leaves of Philodendron sp. Cactodera cacti was detected in two Euphorbia species besides Cactaceae. In general there were identified 49 nematodes species belonging to 21 genera. Most frequent genera were Meloidogyne (70%), Helicotylenchus (45,3%), Aphelenchoides (32,7%), Rotylenchulus (31,4%) and Aphelenchus (28,9%), whereas Meloidogyne incognita (54%), Rotylenchulus reniformis (31,4%) y Aphelenchus avenae (25,8%) were the most common species in Cuban ornamental plants.
