Evaluación de la efectividad de trampas rústicas para la captura de hembras adultas de la broca del café Hypothenemus hampei (coleoptera: scolytidae)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Coffee berry borer Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari), 1867 (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) is actually one of the most problematic pests of the coffee fields in the world. The control of this harmful insect is very important for affected regions, so in this way is necessary to find effective alternatives to reduce its populations. Between Integrated Pest Management (IPM) options, the use of traps is the most practical, simple and economic control method, as well as it does not damage the environment. In order to demonstrate the utility of rustic traps for catching female adults of H. hampei in the beginning of crop period was realized this experimental work. Obtained result showed that rustic traps are an effective alternative for catch female adults of coffee berry borer. Green recipients were 48.5% more efficient than transparent ones for mature insects catching. Values of scolytids catched were not affected by trap location in any height of coffee plant.
