Abstract
Main characteristics of field crops protection and notable difference with methods used to protect the store harvest is described briefly. It was emphasized the fact that there are few pesticides with adequated conditions that enable them to be used in stored products protection; among them, and due to their high diffusiveness, are fumigants and some pesticides of high vapour pressure. Main physical and chemical properties and the action mechanisms of some worldwide used fumigants are described too, as soon as other gases that due to their properties may contribute to phase out the methyl bromide use. Furthermore, a few high vapour pressure insecticides are presented, which actually are used abroad in protecting store products, and sure they may be used in Cuba with the same purpose.
