Fiorinia fioriniea Targioni Tozzetti (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) new host of Persea americana Miller for Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
In Cuba, Persea americana Mill. is one of the fruit trees were appreciated by people, due to its contribution of nutrients and pleasant flavor. Among the insect pests reported worldwide for avocado tree, numerous scale insects very dangerous are included, due to sap extraction and tissue destruction. To update the pest inventory of P. americana, monthly sampling from 2015 to 2018 was carried out in plants of this lauracea located in the UCTB (Basic Scientific Scientific Unit) of Alquízar, in Artemisa. It is reported for the first time the presence of Fiorinia fioriniae Targioni Tozzetti (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) affecting foliage of P. americana in Cuba, which constitutes a new register of the plant host for the diaspidids in the country.
