Characterization of the genetic variability from seven palm promising species
Main Article Content
Abstract
Invasive exotyc species introduction impacts and threatens the biodiversity, one of them, Raoiella indica (mite phiitóphage from Asian origin who recently invaded the Western hemisphere) the red palm mite, have a great importance, because many plants species were affected such as bananas and coconut and also palms results threatened, symbolic, diverse and abundant in Cuba. Determination of its presence in greater or less proportion in palms species from botanical gardens of all provinces in Cuba was made so the objective of this work was to carry out a biochemical variability existing preliminary study in 7 promising palmaceas materials with different degree of infection to R. indica. We tested a battery of isozymes in several species, which have been fundamental by the behavior observed in front of the mite related with their resistance, in the analysis was including other materials susceptible as a reference. The plants were kept in partial control cconditions and once made samplings, was proceeded to total protein extraction and subsequently was make the specific activity and isoenzymes determinations with the relevant materials. This stage included the techniques standardization. The following systems were analyzed POX, APX, SOD, CATALASES isoenzymes described previously by authors from different countries. Each of them described specific patterns with slight differences in the intensity of bands and in the number of them although not all. Results allowed differentiate some materials used which suggests increasing the number of species to be analyzed according to the degree of infestation previously obtained.
